Wedding Party Size: Consider This

When it comes to wedding parties, we’ve seen it all. From large wedding parties, to none we have done weddings with numerous types of wedding parties. From this we are extremely confident to say that your wedding party carries the day! With that being said, it is critical that you pick the right people to stand next to you on the most important day of your life. For the Do’s and Don’ts of wedding parties this is the blog for you.

Today we are focusing specifically on the size of your wedding party. Generally a smaller wedding party is recommended. Some think that they need to have a large wedding party for the day to be successful. This is another time we fall to the saying quality over quantity.

Here are some things to consider when deciding how many people to include in the wedding party.

Time: 

The larger the group the longer everything takes. From hair and makeup to group formals more time will need to be built into the day. This is where we tend to use the term herding kittens as getting everyone where they need to be can take a little while. 

If you have a logistically challenging day, it may be difficult (but not impossible) to incorporate enough time for everything that you desire to do within the day. 

Space: 

If you are planning on having a large wedding party, consider where they will stand. Some venues do not have room for the wedding party to stand next to you. 

This is also the case with dinner seating. We often run into issues with very large head tables. Not all venues have the capacity for this seating arrangement. Again, we can pivot and make it work but if having your people sit with you is a priority then it's something to consider. 

We know that there are some cases where a large wedding party is how it will be. And we will make it work! If your dream has always been to have a large wedding party, do it!
